Five Ways I Raise My Vibe - The High Vibe Game
I was tagged to be involved in an online game called the High Vibe Game, and I just love this idea for anyone who consciously practices the Law Of Attraction. What a great tool to have a list of fun and inspiring ways to raise your vibration.
Thanks to Cardin at OptimistLab who started the High Vibe Game and to Belle at Abundance Journal who tagged me to play – what a wonderful and playful way to post, network and share how we tap into inspiration, connection and delight.
1. I Feed the animals! While I live in a suburban neighborhood, I’m blessed with a forest in my backyard, and anytime I need a pick me up I grab a cup of herbal tea and sit and watch the animals and birds feast on food I’ve thrown out to them. There is something in the act of feeding another being that eases the stigma for me around food. As humans we nurture with food, it’s a common custom through all societies. But for people who are overweight there is a huge stigma regarding using food to nurture. Feeding animals allows me to enjoy nurturing through food, which also helps me to change my vibration around to using food in a positive way to nurture myself.
I have a surplus bread store near my house and they sell bakery products that are past their expiration date as “animal food” for pennies a package. I buy it by the grocery cart for a couple of dollars and throw it out lavishly to the critters who visit my yard. I regularly see raccoons, groundhogs, rabbits, tons of squirrels and birds. I even had a family of dear come and spend the better part of a weekend with me a few months ago.
There is something about nurturing and watching the animals that touches my heart and eases whatever is on my mind. If you aren’t lucky enough to own a forest, you can still find ways to feed animals even in the city. Visit a park or a petting zoo, just make sure that feeding is allowed. Hang a birdfeeder, plant a butterfly attracting bush or flowers. Or designate a spot in your yard to throw your vegetable scraps, where the critters can feast.
2. Take a wisdom walk! I put on a pair of comfy shoes, a bottle of water, and my earphones and head off for a wisdom walk. I walk at whatever pace feels perfect to me at that moment, and I listen to something that uplifts my soul. An Abraham-Hicks CD, a mix tape of music that inspires me, or sometimes just the sounds around me. I breath with intention, I drink lots of water, I visualize my strong, healthy muscles, organs and body. I pay attention to all my senses and notice smells, sounds, feelings and the Universe around me.
It’s about blending and feeling the Universal flow while out in the fresh air, a walking meditation. Even when I’m in a city, I can find a park or playground in which to walk. Or just stroll down a tree lined street if nothing else is available. It’s about my attitude and connection blending with whatever is around me.
3. I bake! Yes I know that for a person who is changing their attitudes regarding food this may sound odd, but I love food and I love to bake. I don’t want to give up baking because I don’t want to eat all of whatever it is I bake. The truth I’ve realized is that quite often all I need to satisfy myself is a taste or serving of whatever I’ve baked. That the process of baking alone was joyful enough that a small portion, eaten in complete intention, delight and knowing is all I need to satisfy me.
I bake with the intention of giving it away to others. I take it to work where it is always gobbled up quickly with morning coffee. And busy neighbors with kids who work constantly and don’t have much time to bake are always appreciative of what I send over to them. Or I often bake for my local fire department. A thank you for all their efforts, especially on holiday weekends. (I make sure to add a little card with my name, address and phone number. Not for recognition, but for their feeling of safety and confidence in eating something brought into them.)
When it’s done I have a serving in complete freedom. I eat it slowly, with intention and I delight in every succulent morsel and I have faith that my body is enjoying it, using it and processing every bit of it to my good.
4. I go grocery shopping! I know this too appears as an odd thing for someone who is changing her attitude toward eating and food. But it really is part of that very process. Plus, I love grocery stores. They are the epitome of abundance, variety and choice!
I love looking at all the different colorful packages, the variety, the sensory stimulation. Thinking of all the people employed from conception to presentation to put each item on the shelf for me, specifically for me, if I choose to buy it.
I don’t do this when I’m hungry. I make sure that I’ve eaten and had time for my body to register as satisfied. And I generally don’t go when I need to refill the whole pantry, I go when I just need a couple of things, because this trip is about vibration, not so much about restocking. I follow my inspiration as to which aisle to go down and which ones to skip. I talk to my Inner Being in my head and ask her what she has to show me, what new awareness can I take from this experience.
I notice the fragrances from the different areas, the flowers in the floral section, the baked goods, the fresh produce, the fish and meat, the variety of scents blending together. I feel the fresh fruits, sniff the packages of bread, touch the packages of fresh meat and I laugh when the cold of the freezer section makes me shiver.
Inevitably my favorite song from years ago will come on while I’m there, I also find that people smile at me and hold doors for me, or reach up to grab something I can’t reach off a high shelf for me. And there is usually an open check out with a smiling clerk when I decide to check out. I’m delighted by the joyous people I encounter because of the smile on my face and the vibration coming from in my heart. I’m rarely tempted to buy anything I don’t need, and I also usually buy a lottery ticket. I figure that’s the vibration, one of love for my life, for variety and abundance, which will attract a jackpot winner into my life!
5. I write a letter, a real letter to someone. I usually write it on the computer, but I do write it, print it and mail it. And occasionally I do write by hand, a note card, a postcard, maybe a note attached to a clipping from the paper or magazine. I love the art of letter writing, and people love getting letters in the mail. I love having the computer so that I can edit as I go and make sure it reflects exactly what I want to say.
I love the very act of folding the paper and inserting it into the envelope, attaching the stamp and walking it to the mailbox.
I have many, many more vibe lifting tools, but these are some of my favorites. I love that in most cases they are attitude changes I’ve discovered about common things I do.
